Lauren Ludlow, LCSW Somatic Therapist in Sacramento, California and virtually throughout California

I I know that you cannot stay where you are right now. You are beyond done living with anxiety, overwhelm, and relationship struggles.

Here is where I come in!

I believe you can live a meaningful life, pursue ambitious goals, be present in your relationships and still center your joy, ease, and alignment. We go beyond just talking to help you get there. My holistic approach to therapy brings together somatic (mind-body) therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, attachment-based therapy, self-compassion, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to  help you find lasting healing.

We get into the stuff at the root of your challenges while you learn ways of living more intentionally, communicating, showing up differently in relationships and family challenges, making choices, and working with your emotions that you can start to use immediately..

You don’t need another person, self-help book, or podcast telling you what you need to do or how you should live. Giving you more advice and guidance but without the support you need to actually apply it to your life. You need an affirming and open space to discover your values, your vision for a meaningful and thriving life, and your unique connection needs. I take the time to understand you completely, your identity, culture, relationships, history and life and then help you find you discover these things for yourself. Then, I support you every step of the way as you take steps to move towards your best life.

When you are overwhelmed by obligations and expectations…

Listen, I have been in that place.

Here are the things that influence the way that I do therapy:

  • 10 years of experience working in mental health and emotional wellbeing

  • Hours of training in somatic therapy, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and culturally-affirming therapy

  • A deep love of research and reading- from therapy books and self-development to escapist fantasy and fiction

  • All of my identities: therapist, life coach, Black woman, spouse, student of life, amateur baker, houseplant enthusiast, semi-nature lover (I love a well manicured hiking trail), and more

  • My lived experience and the many therapeutic practices that have supported me in my own journey

I spent too much of my life believing it was totally normal to constantly be struggling, striving, and exhausting myself for reach my goals, be there for others, and meet expectations.

That came from the responsibility to do good for my community + an accommodating personality + the norms and pressures to be excellent I took in as a Black woman + growing up as a classic peacekeeping and accommodating middle child.

It is hard work to unlearn those patterns but, trust me, it is beyond worth it. My own healing journey and my work with clients is exactly how I decided I wanted to become a somatic therapist.

We support you in reaching your definition of thriving.

That means your therapy goals could look like bringing mindfulness into your daily life, processing and healing relationship wounds, making more intentional choices, and authentically connecting with your partner

and

Creating more space for going out with friends, exploring the types of relationships you want even if they are different than the norms you grew up with, doing the things that bring you joy without guilt or shame no matter what they are, and loving yourself as you are and completely unapologetically.
