What is a couples therapy intensive and what makes it special?

Traditional Couples Therapy

  • 60 - 90 minute sessions once a week

  • Initial assessment and then 3-4 sessions to get into the root issues and deeper stuff

  • A month or more of time passing with issues evolving or getting worse and pain continuing

  • Must carve out time for weekly or bi-weekly session for months and months

Traditional couples therapy can be a wonderful choice for many couples but high-conflict couples, couples with issues that are causing a lot of distress or tension, and couples struggling with increasing attachment related issues might find that they need to see progress and relief sooner. It can also be a challenge for couples with busy schedules due to work or parenting who have difficulty carving out that weekly time for months.

Intensives are amazing for couples that need a major boost, breakthrough, or significant step forward so that they can continue to grow, heal, and progress with less stress and relational damage and more relaxation and secure functioning.

Couples Therapy Intensive

  • Short-term (a few days to one month)

  • Initial 2 hour assessment to make sure we make the most of your time

  • Immersive with sessions that last anywhere from 2 hours to 5 hours

  • Targeted- we focus on the areas that are most impactful and explore patterns of interaction, identify and address underlying issues, and develop new tools and strategies for a healthier and more fulfilling relationship

  • Options: one weekend (Friday-Sunday) of about 5 hours of therapy each day plus 1-3 integration sessions afterward OR 4 weeks with 2 2-hour sessions a week (a total of 4 hours of therapy a week)

The approach that I use in my couples work combines attachment-based couples therapy, somatic therapy, and PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy).

Investment

Investing in a couples therapy intensive is like investing in a retreat or a vacation to enhance your peace or relaxation, an accelerator program to quickly grow your business, or month and months of traditional couples therapy. The goal is for you to see significant breakthrough in less time and to get to a place of growing and healing together more quickly. The price for and intensive ranges from $4,000 for a 4-week intensive or $3,200 for a weekend intensive plus 2 integration sessions.

For two couples I will be offering these intensives for $1,800! That includes the price of the 2-hour assessment and 16 hours of therapy couples therapy work. In return I need your:

  • Detailed feedback form.

  • Filmed testimonial interview (about 15 minutes) that I can use for promotional purposes. I will never ask you to do anything that is not in integrity for you so this is only if you truly feel you benefit from the intensive.

  • Filming the sessions so that I can 1) share them with you 2) share them with a licensed therapist who serves as an individual consultant to me and gives me feedback on my work so that I can continually improve.

Requirements

  • Both members of the couple must be open and willing to engage in a therapy intensive

  • Couple must be in a committed, long-term relationship

  • Both members of the couple must reside in California (preferred: the couple lives in the Greater Sacramento/ Roseville area and is open to driving to an office location in Roseville right of the 80 freeway)

  • Must be available either April 4th - April 6th from 9 am - 2:30 pm or Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm from April 7th - May 1st
